Job Description

College Intern - Marketing

OCTA's College Intern Program is a year-round, paid opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience in the transportation industry. Under direct supervision, this role performs entry-level professional marketing duties while supporting community outreach, digital content, and promotional initiatives. Interns gain real-world experience, mentorship, and exposure to OCTA's programs and career pathways.

Under direct supervision, you will perform a variety of professional entry-level duties related to your major field of study and the sponsoring department's current business operations. As a College Intern, you will be exposed to OCTA's career opportunities in the transportation industry. You will gain deeper awareness of transportation's many facets through your OCTA orientation, projects and teams, and internal networking.

The pay range is from $19.00 - $22.00 per hour depending on your education level. This position is not eligible for employee benefits. The work schedule will consist of approximately 20 hours a week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a continuous 12-month period.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with the development and execution of marketing campaigns and promotions aligned with strategic goals.
  • Support marketing tactics, including research, planning, performance tracking, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support campaign delivery and project coordination.
  • Help maintain project timelines, marketing calendars, campaign schedules, and organized project files.
  • Assist with the development, proofreading, and distribution of marketing and public information materials, including digital content, flyers, brochures, presentations, outreach materials, and transit rider communications.
  • Assist with the preparation of campaign reports, presentations, and summaries.
  • Assist with the development of content that promotes transit ridership, customer awareness, and public engagement.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled full-time college student (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and creativity.
  • Familiarity with marketing, communications, creative development or public relations.
  • Ability to research and analyze marketing initiatives and contribute ideas for improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Professional, team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to supporting events and campaigns.
