Job description

Job Summary

Provides technical assistance under the direction of the Licensed Mississippi Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)for a defined group of patients to achieve quality patient outcomes. Provides service functions and communication to staff, patients, and guests. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Procedures authorized to be performed are to be performed exclusively outside a critical care area and are as follows:
  • 1. Set up an monitoring of low-flow oxygen (e.g., less than or equal to 6 LPM)
  • 2. Non-exotic aerosol therapy (bronchodilators, anticholinergics, etc.)
  • 3. Hyperinflation and airway clearance therapy
  • 4. Electrocardiograms
  • 5. Equipment cleaning, stocking, transporting, etc.
  • 6. Once an RCP student is certified in Basic Life Support, they may assist in cardiorespiratory arrests at the discretion of the employing institution.
  • Assesses the patient under the direction of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Contributes to the development of a plan of care under the direction of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Implements the plan of care under the direction of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Evaluates the plan of care under the direction of the Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Provides patient care and assistance to RCP staff as directed.
  • Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery.
  • Builds knowledge base regarding clinical leadership.
  • Participates in ongoing educational activities.
  • Completes assigned goals.
