Position Summary
Ava is seeking a motivated and analytical Power Resources Intern, reporting to the Sr. Analyst, Power Resources Contracts amp; Settlements. This role focuses on renewable energy contract management, generation tracking, and compliance-related accounting.
The intern will gain direct experience working with renewable energy data, including project-level generation and Renewable Energy Credit (REC) tracking, and will support Avaโ€™s efforts to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of its clean energy portfolio.
Position Details
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support tracking and analysis of renewable energy project generation data across Avaโ€™s portfolio of long-term contracts
  • Assist with Renewable Energy Credit (REC) accounting, including validation, tracking, and reporting
  • Help maintain datasets used for compliance reporting and internal portfolio management
  • Perform data analysis to identify discrepancies, trends, and insights related to generation and contract performance
  • Support development of dashboards or reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Looker Studio) to visualize portfolio data
  • Assist with renewable energy compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment with contractual requirements
  • Conduct research on renewable energy markets, compliance frameworks, and reporting standards in California
  • Support ad hoc analytical projects related to power resources and settlements
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree as a Junior or Senior with preference to those pursuing a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Energy, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Economics, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex datasets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and manipulation
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker Studio, Tableau) preferred
  • Interest in renewable energy generation, energy markets, and renewable energy accounting
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with large datasets
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Prior experience or coursework related to power resources, energy markets, or renewable energy is a plus

Term of the Internship
This is an 8 to 10 week internship that runs from mid-June through mid-August with the expectation of 8 hours of work per day and 40 hours of work per week.
Stipend
The position is compensated at $35 per hour for 40 hours per week

Location and Working Conditions
This position will be based in Ava headquarters in Oakland, near BART. Ava's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into the office Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Wednesday of the month.

Licenses/Certificates
