Position Summary:
Schafer Industries is currently seeking a Talent Acquisition Intern for its Schafer Gear Works operation in Roscoe, IL.
Position Salary Range:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Job Summary
The Talent Acquisition Intern supports the full-cycle recruitment process, from sourcing candidates to onboarding new hires. This role provides hands-on experience in a wide range of HR and recruitment functions, including resume screening, interview coordination, applicant tracking, and employer branding. In addition, the intern will contribute to strategic pipeline building efforts through community engagement, outreach to high schools and career centers, and brand-building initiatives that position the company as an employer of choice.
Essential Functions:
Sourcing and Screening: Assist in posting job openings on job boards and internal platforms. Screen incoming resumes to identify qualified candidates.
Interview Coordination: Schedule and coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
Candidate Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate information in the applicant tracking system (ATS). Assist in tracking progress throughout the hiring process.
Onboarding Support: Help coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, including document collection, orientation preparation, and system access setup.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the HR team, such as preparing offer letters, tracking recruiting metrics, and organizing files.
Talent Pipeline Development: Collaborate with the HR team to identify long-term talent needs and help develop proactive recruiting strategies.
Community Engagement & Outreach: Support outreach efforts to local high schools, career centers, trade programs, and community organizations to build future talent pipelines.
Campus & Youth Engagement: Assist in organizing or participating in career fairs, job shadowing events, mock interviews, and internship programs to attract early talent.
Brand Building in the Community: Help represent the company at local events and contribute ideas to increase visibility and appeal to potential candidates in the region.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Currently pursuing or recently acquired a degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Interest in recruitment, talent development, and community engagement
• Familiarity with , ADP, Microsoft Office and social media platforms such as Indeed, Facebook, and LinkedIn
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated, resourceful, and eager to learn
Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the company by:
  • Efficiently channel problems and/or complaints to the appropriate person for swift resolution, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Uphold and support all Schafer Gear Works, Inc. policies and procedures to maintain high standards of operation.
  • Proactively report to Manager when tasks cannot be completed, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Provide valuable input and assistance in the implementation of quality improvements, contributing to continuous process enhancement.
  • Resolve technical problems through effective communication with manager, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to organizational success.

Working Conditions:
  1. On site in primarily manufacturing office working environment 60-80% of the time, remaining time remote.
  2. Air conditioned/heated manufacturing facility with possible exposure to noise; dust; fumes; physical, chemical, and biohazards; solvents, oils, and detergents.
