Job description

Overview

At MSA, we believe the best learning happens through teamwork, mentorship, and hands-on experience. We are looking for a Traffic Engineering Intern to conduct traffic counts and other data collection in the La Crosse, WI area and who is excited to learn, contribute, and grow in a supportive environment. This is a remote role as you will be working independently in the field.

MSA internships are typically at least 12 weeks in duration, ranging from mid-May 2027 to mid-August 2027, with start/exit dates confirmed later in the hiring process. For engineering students seeking experience with traffic and transportation projects, this is the position for you!   Additionally, an internship at MSA provides you with a collaborative environment across the firm among the 40 interns each summer.

Field Work/Construction Management

  • Traffic counting, topographic survey, or other project data collection
  • Complete reports and documentation on traffic data collection
  • Construction field inspection/staking operations
  • Complete Inspector Daily Reports (IDR’s) and other DOT reports
  • Measure and compute item quantities installed on the project  

Pursuing either of the following degrees required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or related) with a transportation focus preferred
    • Associate’s degree in civil engineering technology (or related)
  • Freshman or sophmore standing required 
  • A valid driver’s license required
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
  • A desire to learn more about transportation engineering projects in a consulting industry
  • This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position.
