Job description

Position Summary
The Technical Designer is responsible for supporting the Christopher Peacock Home design team. With assistance from the Senior Technical Design team, you will be responsible for assisting the showroom-based designers in a client facing role, working in AutoCAD to create, modify, and release drawings for different lines of custom CPH products, and keeping key partners updated daily. Over time the Technical Designer will complete and submit Excel based factory orders, provide pricing for estimates and contracts, and complete and submit any other necessary paperwork required to help drive sales. On occasion the Technical Designer may assist the Project Management Department with onsite related tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work independently to interpret drawings, sketches, scanned images, customer drawings and specs to prepare accurate detailed drawings in AutoCAD
  • Operate a computer using standard drafting software packages and printers/plotters, maintaining complete, readily accessible files and records of drawings, saving files often
  • Responsible for cross referencing and accurately making changes between plans and elevations, applying necessary technical details
  • Use accepted CPH drawing standards as guidelines, regularly deviating from standards based on instructions from designers and/or clients’ needs, frequently within tight deadlines
  • Self-check own work for completeness and accuracy
  • Release drawings as required to key parties including clients, architects, and interior designers
  • Participates and interacts in client meetings in showroom and occasionally on site with CP Designer
  • Attend fitting meetings, correct drawings, and respond to package queries working closely with the manufacturing plant to ensure that the drawings are accurate
  • Complete and submit required paperwork (work orders, delivery date change requests, contract requests, etc.) as needed
  • Assist with keeping the showroom up to date with current sample sets (including stain samples, glass, hardware, finishes, etc.) and alerting the PM department of any maintenance needs
  • May occasionally assist the CP designers and project managers with onsite related tasks, such as taking measurements, job site photos, accepting deliveries, etc.
  • Review the Operations Schedule weekly and as necessary, to ensure deadlines are met
  • Help cultivate a positive atmosphere and perform as part of a team with the common goal of completing work and meeting all deadlines
  • Responsible for ensuring that Peacock quality, standards, procedures, and technical details are followed by all parties
  • Employee is to put the company’s interests first and foremost and to represent it well in daily attire, image, and attitude
  • Other duties as requested, directed, and assigned
Education and Experience
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous kitchen and cabinetry design experience required
  • Knowledge of construction drawings and blueprints
  • Previous kitchen design and client related experience preferred
  • A design related (Associates or Bachelor’s) degree preferred
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of residential construction including kitchen design and cabinetry construction
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans
  • Knowledge of hand drafting principles, practices, methods, and techniques
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to create accurate and detailed drawings and elevations in AutoCAD
  • Adapts to ongoing design changes and modifications quickly and easily

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. In addition, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at job sites, which may include fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and loud noises.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional early and evening work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Travel to local job sites and for training at headquarters and/or manufacturing plant is required as necessary.
