Manufacturing Engineering Intern (Process & Launch Support)

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support manufacturing readiness for existing and new Karma vehicle programs by strengthening process flow, layout accuracy, PFMEA quality, and system alignment ahead of production execution. This role provides hands-on manufacturing engineering experience embedded within plant and launch activities, with direct involvement in process definition, risk reduction, and execution support.

This internship offers practical exposure to manufacturing processes, industrial layouts, SAP system alignment, and production troubleshooting, contributing meaningfully to launch readiness, operational efficiency, and product quality.

Internship Details

  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Timing: May/June start through August/September end
  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Develop and update manufacturing process flows and layouts to support new program launches and production changes.
  • Improve material flow, workstation efficiency, and overall line robustness through layout and process optimization.
  • Create, update, and maintain PFMEAs to support early identification and mitigation of manufacturing risks.
  • Support DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing / Design for Assembly) efforts to reduce downstream issues and rework.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing scrolls to ensure accuracy for new and existing programs.
  • Update SAP to reflect approved manufacturing process changes and ensure system data alignment.
  • Provide hands-on support for production troubleshooting, tooling adjustments, and issue resolution during execution.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and program teams to support launch readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing processes, production systems, and launch execution.
  • Ability to work with structured processes, layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or coursework related to:
    • Manufacturing material flow and process layout
    • Production or industrial processes
  • Familiarity with the following tools and systems is a plus:
    • 3DX
    • CATIA V6
    • SAP

Compensation:

$25.00per hour - $35.00/per hour. Compensation will vary depending on the candidate's current level of education.
