The Operational Excellence Intern plays a hands-on role in delivering high-impact strategic initiatives, supporting project delivery, and advancing continuous improvement across the McKesson Canada Specialty Health team.

This role provides exposure to cross functional programs within Specialty Health, where the Intern will contribute to project delivery, analyze operational data, and generate actionable insights that inform decision-making.

Working in a multidisciplinary environment, the Intern helps drive visibility, consistency, and execution across projects by coordinating deliverables, developing reporting, and identifying performance trends. This is a high-value opportunity to gain practical experience in project delivery, data analytics, and operational transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management Support
    • Coordination of PM tasks (minutes, meeting scheduling, updating PM artefacts such as the RAID logs)

    • Following up with project team members on actions, tasks and deliverables

    • Supporting testing, hypercare and other project delivery activities

  • Operational Support & Data Analysis
    • Analyze and/or develop operational metrics, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and variances

    • Produce recurring and ad hoc reports to support business decision-making

    • Conduct structured analysis (e.g., variance, trend, root cause) to inform recommendations

  • Reporting & Dashboard Development
    • Build and maintain dashboards and scorecards using Excel or reporting tools

    • Translate data into clear insights through visuals, summaries, and executive-ready reporting

    • Support data deep dives to evaluate operational performance and identify improvement opportunities

  • Continuous Improvement Support
    • Assist in documenting current workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and tracking improvement initiatives

    • Support small to mid-sized process improvement efforts through data analysis and coordination

    • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement process enhancements

Must-Have Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Healthcare Management, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, or priorities

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, basic dashboards)

  • Experience developing PowerPoint presentations for business or project updates

  • Experience using Microsoft Word for documentation (e.g., reports, meeting notes, process documentation)

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Experience in project coordination, PMO support, business operations, or data analysis

  • Experience in managing projects

  • Experience in automation, building dashboards or reports using advanced Excel features or BI tools and AI tools

  • Familiarity with automation techniques (e.g., VBA macros or workflow tools)

  • Experience in healthcare, specialty pharmaceuticals, or regulated environments

  • Exposure to process improvement methods (e.g., Lean or Six Sigma concepts)

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Engineering, Analytics, Health Sciences, or a related field
