Job Description Summary

The Accounting organization at Eversource Energy located in Berlin, Connecticut and Westwood, MA has an opportunity for highly motivated students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting looking for an opportunity in a summer intern program in a fast paced, changing industry. Individuals will perform a variety of responsibilities associated with the preparation of financial data for various system companies, including both regulated and non-regulated.


Job Description

The responsibilities of an intern position in the Accounting organization at Eversource Energy will include some of the following:


  • Assist in preparation of SEC, Federal Regulatory Commission and state regulatory filings
  • Assist with the review and analysis of month end financial statements and reports
  • Participate in the monthly accounting closing cycle including preparation of journal entries and analysis and reconciliation of accounts
  • Develop corporate cost loading rates
  • Assist in the research of accounting issues as identified

The Company uses a number of tools to accomplish these tasks including,

  • Working with the Company's integrated mainframe accounting and budgeting system
  • Working with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word

Candidates should possess excellent communication, judgment, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of accounting theory is required. Individuals should be proficient in the use of MS Office applications, and have a strong interest and desire to learn and apply computer applications. Candidate should be in the process of pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting; preference will be given to students who have finished their junior year.
