About the Role:

LS Power is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer Intern to join our team in Chesterfield, MO. This internship provides hands-on exposure to transmission system planning and grid development initiatives in a rapidly evolving energy market.As the Transmission Planning Engineer Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and development professionals to support technical studies and analysis that help ensure grid reliability and enable infrastructure growth.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Support transmission system planning and reliability studies
  • Assist with power flow and contingency analysis
  • Support interconnection and grid impact assessments
  • Review ISO/RTO planning processes and documentation
  • Analyze data related to load growth, generation additions, and system constraints
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and internal presentations

 

Qualifications

  • Are currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Have completed coursework in power systems or transmission planning
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have an interest in power systems, grid reliability, and energy infrastructure

Ideally, you have

  • Familiarity with power system modeling tools (PSSE, TARA, PSLF, PowerWorld or similar)
