Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary

As a Point of Care Technical Coordinator, you will Demonstrates understanding of laboratory regulatory requirements in area of expertise including, but not limited to, TJC, CAP, State DOH, FDA, CMS, CLIA.

  •  Coordinates day-to-day laboratory resources (personnel, supplies, reagents, etc.) to meet organizational and operational needs 
  •  Supports Laboratory in developing and managing procedures, protocols, projects and standardization in area of expertise. 
  •  Supervises technical and/or non-technical laboratory personnel and daily operations in assigned areas/shifts to achieve organization and regulatory requirements. 
  •  Interprets Laboratory accreditation regulations in area of expertise and recommends strategies and approaches to meeting requirements 
  •  Understands and applies Quality Control, Quality Assurance principles and actively participates in Continuous Quality Improvement
  •  Communicates and collaborates with leaders, Facility personnel, Division personnel , vendors, and other HCA support groups to facilitate and ensure successful delivery of services
  •  Knowledgeable and capable of working with key stakeholder groups to coordinate activities including other Service Line resources, Division leadership, Facility leadership, medical director (pathology), Performance Improvement, laboratory leaders, Supply Chain, etc.
  •  Acts as a resource to customers. Ensures department proactively responds to feedback from customers and implements improvement mechanisms to enhance the ability of the department to meet customer needs 
  •  Ensures timely dissemination of information within and across departments to support continuity of service 

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's Degree in Medical Lab Technology required 
  •  Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology preferred 
  •  At least 2 years of experience as Medical Laboratory Scientist and minimum of 1-3 years of recent experience in overseeing Point of Care testing is preferred.
  •  At least 4 years of experience as Medical Laboratory Technician and minimum of 1-3 years of recent experience in overseeing Point of Care testing is preferred.
  •  Experience in a multi-site healthcare setting strongly preferred. 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

  •  National Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist required 
  •  State license where required (CA, FL, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, WV) 
  •  Lean, Six Sigma certification is preferred
