JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Point of Care Leadership -Meet with directors regarding the feasibility of Point of Care Testing in their area or satellite. Evaluate the need, expense, logistics, and customer service advantages of the requested testing. Plan, coordinate and implement Point of Care. Evaluate impact of Point of Care Testing on the lab's workload and workflow. Assure overall efficiency and perform a daily review of results. Plan short and long term fiscal requirements pertaining to expenditures, equipment and personnel requirements with Clinical Director(s). Plan and coordinate the investigation of new products and procedures. Develop protocols for parallel studies, including quality control. Report results in written form to Director. Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency. Respond and resolve technical problems as they arrive. Share the responsibility of on-call for technical questions with the Medical Director of Laboratory Medicine. Present a service-oriented attitude when dealing with personnel, vendors or customers.
  • Training - Delivery I -Assist/participate in the formal or informal training, education, and/or development of staff, new employees, patients, visitors, students, fellows, residents, and/or the community. May assist in identifying ongoing educational/training needs. May assist in documentation and compliance. Promote/market educational/training opportunities as requested. May provide related reports/data.
  • Serve as a Resource II -Demonstrate advanced competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills; stay abreast of changes in key systems; serve as an expert resource to the department, and/or hospital in specific area(s).
  • Customer Service - Relationship Management -Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively. Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
  • Point of Care Testing -Perform routine procedures with the Point of Care discipline including the collection and analysis of data affecting decisions regarding patient care. Maintain working knowledge of procedures and strong technical proficiency. When applicable, maintain stock of materials used by testing personnel; order supplies and reagents.
