Job description

Acrisure Mortgage is looking for an experienced Non-QM Underwriter to join our growing team. We are seeking a detail-oriented mortgage professional with strong credit analysis skills and extensive experience underwriting complex Non-QM loan products. If you thrive in a fast-paced production environment and are passionate about making sound credit decisions while delivering exceptional service, we'd love to hear from you!

What You'll Do

  • Independently review and underwrite Non-QM mortgage loan applications.
  • Evaluate borrower credit, income, assets, collateral, and overall loan eligibility.
  • Analyze complex income documentation, including self-employed borrowers, business tax returns, bank statements, asset depletion, rental income, K-1s, and other alternative income sources.
  • Issue underwriting decisions, including approvals, conditions, suspensions, and denials, in accordance with company and investor guidelines.
  • Ensure loans meet all applicable regulatory, compliance, and investor requirements.
  • Maintain established underwriting turn times while managing a high-volume pipeline.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and professionally with Loan Officers, Processors, and Operations teams.
  • Assist with loan scenarios and provide guidance on complex transactions when needed.
  • Maintain high quality standards by minimizing revisions, suspense conditions, and post-closing findings.
  • Stay current on Non-QM products, underwriting guidelines, and industry regulations.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Non-QM underwriting experience.
  • Experience independently underwriting Non-QM mortgage loans with delegated authority preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of alternative documentation lending programs.
  • Extensive experience reviewing self-employed borrower income and complex financial documentation.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret multiple investor guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain underwriting decisions.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven production environment.

 

Preferred Product Experience

Experience underwriting one or more of the following loan types:

  • Bank Statement
  • DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio)
  • Asset Depletion
  • P&L Only
  • Interest Only
  • Jumbo
  • Foreign National
  • ITIN
  • 1099 Income

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience using Encompass or a similar Loan Origination System.
  • Ability to underwrite approximately 25–35+ loans per month, depending on complexity.
  • Consistent history of meeting production, quality, and turnaround expectations.
  • Experience maintaining strong audit results and low defect rates.
  • Comfortable working remotely in a production-based underwriting environment.
