We are a boutique plaintiff's law firm located in New York City dedicated to representing individuals who have suffered serious personal injuries and medical malpractice. Our practice is built on thorough preparation, compassionate client advocacy, and aggressive litigation. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented recent law school graduate or newly admitted attorney to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to receive hands-on litigation experience and mentorship while working directly with an experienced trial attorney on complex, high-value cases.
Position Summary
The Associate Attorney will work on all phases of personal injury and medical malpractice litigation, from case intake through trial. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, possesses strong research and writing skills, and is committed to advocating for injured clients.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with a broad range of legal duties, including:
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on litigation issues.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, affirmations, briefs, and discovery responses.
• Draft and review Bills of Particulars, Notices for Discovery and Inspection, Interrogatories, and other litigation documents.
• Assist with case evaluations and liability analyses.
• Review and analyze medical records, hospital records, and expert reports.
• Communicate with clients regarding case status and gather necessary information.
• Prepare clients for depositions, independent medical examinations, and court appearances.
• Attend court conferences, compliance conferences, motion hearings, and settlement conferences.
• Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials under attorney supervision.
• Coordinate with medical experts, investigators, and other litigation professionals.
• Draft settlement demand packages and assist with settlement negotiations.
• Review insurance policies and no-fault documentation.
• Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
• Manage litigation deadlines and ensure compliance with court scheduling orders.
• Conduct factual investigations and witness interviews.
• Prepare trial exhibits, witness files, and trial notebooks.
• Assist attorneys during trials and hearings.
• Perform legal research regarding New York personal injury, medical malpractice, negligence, and procedural law.
• Utilize legal research platforms and case management software effectively.
• Handle additional litigation-related assignments as needed.
Qualifications
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Recently admitted to the New York Bar or awaiting admission (pending admission candidates are encouraged to apply).
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with legal research databases and case management software is a plus.
• Interest in plaintiff-side personal injury and medical malpractice litigation.
