These codes are essential for billing, insurance claims, and maintaining accurate patient records. Interns typically work under the supervision of experienced medical coders or health information managers, gaining hands-on experience with coding systems like ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS. This role helps interns build foundational knowledge required for a career in medical coding and health information management.
