As of Jun 26, 2026, the average hourly pay for intern lpn operating room in the United States is $19.38, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.42 and $21.63 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How to make $150,000 as a nurse?

An LPN operating in the operating room typically earns less than $150,000 annually; reaching this salary level usually requires advancing to roles such as registered nurse (RN) or nurse anesthetist, gaining specialized certifications, and working in high-demand or high-paying settings like surgical units or specialty clinics. Increasing experience, pursuing further education, and working overtime or in leadership positions can also boost earnings.

Can an LPN work in an operating room?

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) generally do not work directly in operating rooms, as surgical settings typically require Registered Nurses (RNs) with specialized perioperative training. However, LPNs may assist in preoperative or postoperative care under supervision, depending on state regulations and hospital policies. Certification in perioperative nursing is often necessary for those working closely in surgical environments.

Is LPN a dead-end job?

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) is a healthcare role that can serve as a stepping stone to advanced nursing positions or further education such as RN (Registered Nurse). While some LPNs choose to stay in the role long-term, many pursue additional certifications or degrees to advance their careers in healthcare. The job offers opportunities for skill development and specialization, making it a viable career path or a foundation for future growth.
