REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Position Reports To: Program Manager

JOB SUMMARY

EOTECH is seeking an analytical, hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer to join our engineering team in Clarksville, TN. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and integration of robust firmware and hardware systems. You will collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop cutting-edge solutions, from sensor integration and hybrid MCU/FPGA systems to Linux kernel debugging and real-time tactical applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in writing, testing, and debugging embedded C/C++ code for microcontrollers and real-time systems.
  • Work with engineers to interface with sensors, actuators, and communication modules (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, BLE).
  • Contribute to documentation of code, schematics, and design processes.
  • Assist in writing test procedures and reports.
  • Participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and team meetings.
  • Learn and apply Agile or other development workflows.
  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)                  

  • Basic understanding of embedded systems and microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, AVR, PIC, or similar).
  • Familiarity with breadboarding, soldering, and hands-on circuit work.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Git, JTAG debuggers, or version control.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing shifting priorities and occasional high-pressure situations with professionalism, resilience, and sound judgment.
  • Experience debugging Linux boot, kernel, driver, interrupt, DMA, memory-mapping, and device-enumeration issues.
  • Experience with IMUs, magnetometers, accelerometers, and gyroscopes, including calibration and bias compensation.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • 2 to 4 years' experience of coursework or project experience with C/C++ programming, digital electronics, or real-time systems.
  • Use lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters) to test and validate embedded systems performance.

BACKGROUND PREREQUISITIES

  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, pre-employment drug screening, and reference checks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with RTOS, FreeRTOS, or embedded Linux.
  • Exposure to IoT protocols (MQTT, BLE, Zigbee) or wireless communication.
  • Familiarity with Linux multimedia subsystems and APIs such as V4L2, DRM/KMS, media-controller, ALSA, GStreamer, or hardware codec frameworks.
  • Familiarity with motion tracking, pose estimation, and gesture recognition.
  • Designed, delivered, and completed hybrid MCU / FPGA and/or SoC systems for video mixing applications.
  • Personal, academic, or club projects involving robotics, drones, wearables, or automation.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
