Job description

Job Description Summary: The goal of this position is to manage the day to day operation of the Laboratory Information Management Systems for Aviagen's veterinary laboratories. In addition to maintaining the LIMS, this position will oversee required reporting as well as meet the requirements of data analysis to meet the needs of Veterinary Services and Aviagen's production facilities. The LIMS Data Analyst will also liaise with the LIMS administrator at Aviagen. Job Description:
  • Extract data from LIMS and support interpretation and analysis of results
  • Ensure data entry and extraction follow good practice standards for data integrity and governance
  • Provide routine and investigative reports and metrics
  • Support audits and inspections by providing data and information upon request
  • Develop analysis tools and reporting templates
  • Develop new LIMS workflows, interfaces, and functionality
  • Develop new laboratory instrument integrations
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise and support for LIMS systems, equipment, and interfaces
  • Provide end user application support in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with Laboratory, Monitoring, Veterinary, Microbiology, Production, and Administrative groups to ensure LIMS processes support Aviagen business processes
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and accrediting standards such as ISO 9001, ISO17025, NPIP, according to individual laboratory needs.
  • Follow company policy and meet established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO requirements, and drug/alcohol policy.
  • Attendance is expected and required during normal working hours or during the assigned working schedule determined by the supervisor.
  • May perform other tasks as deemed necessary by the LIMS manager
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in Computer Science or Data Science) or equivalent
Specific Experience:
  • Excellent computer skills, with an understanding of hardware and software operation, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually
  • Understanding of procedural programming
  • Effective SQL ability (preferably in Microsoft SQL Server environment)
Specific Training:
  • Basic knowledge for creating documents and spreadsheets
  • Good communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize objectives
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting database systems or computer applications
Personal Qualities:
  • Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to accomplish daily and weekly goals, as well as deal with changing needs requested by the LIMS manager
