Job Description:

We are seeking a TS/SCI-cleared, highly skilled and motivated Lead Software/Integration Engineer with experience in modern backend development, Java, AWS, Docker, Linux, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development experience to support mission modernization, software integration, and mission-system reliability improvements. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across software and infrastructure teams and work onsite at Patrick Space Force Base.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop secure and scalable back-end services and application logic to support mission applications and workflows.
  • Apply software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle, including code reviews, automated testing, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deploy and maintain applications in AWS, ensuring scalability, security, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Engage with customers daily to refine requirements and improve application functionality.
  • Prepare and brief technical designs, implementation plans, roadmaps, and documentation.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation for system design, application architecture, deployment procedures, and sustainment activities.
  • Supporting Agile software development teams and participating in Scrum ceremonies.
  • Building and deploying mission applications in classified or high-security environments.
  • Security+ Certification or any DoD IAT Level II Certification, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of accepting position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency with Java language
  • Experience developing AI/ML-enabled mission applications, analytical tools, or decision-support capabilities involving advanced data processing, automation, visualization, and user interaction.
  • Experience developing and deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes K-8.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD, Git, REST APIs, microservices, and secure software development.
  • Experience with scientific, sensor-derived, geophysical, acoustic, seismic, infrasonic, or other mission-relevant technical data is highly desired.
  • Experience building back-end services and APIs using Python, Java, Node.js, .NET, or similar.
  • Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB, or other relational/non-relational data stores.
  • Prior field assignment experience
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools
  • Experience transitioning research or prototype capabilities into operational software tools, supporting classified DoD mission environments strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Familiarity with the C2S Access Portal (CAP) and high-side AWS environments is highly desired.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
