The Opportunity
Are you ready to move beyond just writing code and start leading the technical vision? We are searching for a Lead Java Developer to orchestrate the development of mission-critical applications. In this role, you'll be both a master coder and a technical commander, guiding projects from the drawing board to a successful launch. You will lead feasibility studies, planning, and execution, acting as the primary technical authority for your team and senior stakeholders. If you're a seasoned Java expert with a passion for data and a talent for leadership, this is your opportunity to define and deliver the next generation of our technology.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the Charge: Take full ownership of the technical design and execution for key application development projects. You will monitor and control all phases of the development process, from analysis and design to construction, testing, and implementation.
  • Architect the Future: Act as the lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) for senior stakeholders and team members, translating complex business needs into robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions.
  • Set the Standard: Define and enforce essential operating standards, development processes, and security best practices for the entire team.
  • Master & Mentor: Provide expert-level guidance on Java, data analysis, and SQL optimization, while serving as an advisor and coach to a team of talented developers, elevating their skills and ensuring technical excellence.
  • Drive Project Success: Utilize your experience in project management to manage and implement successful projects, ensuring they meet business needs and are delivered on time.
  • Ensure Integrity: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Recommended Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis role
  • Leadership Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience with a proven track record of leading successful software projects from start to finish.
  • Technical Mastery: A deep and authoritative command of Java for backend development.
  • Data & SQL Expertise: Exceptional skills in data analysis and SQL, with the ability to design and optimize complex data models and queries.
  • Strategic Vision: Experience in managing and implementing successful projects, with a working knowledge of consulting and project management techniques.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on complex issues and recommend advanced programming solutions.
  • Nice to Haves: Deep familiarity with event-driven architectures and NoSQL databases such as Kafka, MongoDB, and Couchbase is highly desirable.
