Rantec is an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test.

Scope
The Intern would focus on tasks and projects to support the Materials Department at Rantec to improve Material Handling efficiency and reduce non-value add tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Improve kitting efficiencies for key production programs
    • Review kitting process and improve kitting efficiency.
      • Setting default common locations for materials issued to the same kit.
      • Creating new or improved kitting bins, processes and labels for better 5S organization.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for reducing material handler touch time.
  • Cycle Counting Improvements
    • Run and Implement ABC Analysis in Syteline.
      • Stagger last count dates to level load cycle counts.
    • Analyze and remove unused Item Stockroom Locations to reduce cycle count rows.
    • Remove cycle counting items without demand forecasted.
  • Item Master Setting Adjustments
    • Analyze and recommend adjustments to ERP Item Master settings that impact planned orders quantity.
      • Recommend changes to Days Supply or Order Maximum settings to drive actions for efficient batch sizing for production and materials.
  • Job Order Splitting and Printing
    •  Review and analyze process for efficiency gain.
  • Material Handler Handheld Scanner Implementation
    • Review handheld scanner capabilities and ease of use for improving material handler put away transactions and cycle count capabilities to improve Material Handler efficiencies.
      • If handheld scanner is capable of improving efficiencies, identify and implement actions to support use of handheld scanned.
Potential Additional Duties
  • MODI Receiving Scanner Implementation – pending purchase
    • Create Work Instructions on how to use and process the MODI scanner.
    • Teach software to view different style labels.

Education and Experience
  • Pursuing degree related to Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (IE, IME, ME, GE, ITP)
  • 1 year of previous experience preferred
  • Courses or projects related to ergonomics, production flow, facility layout or inventory storage preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills
