Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Industrial Engineering Intern to support our shop floor efficiency initiatives through 5S and workplace organization projects. This hands-on internship will involve direct interaction with production employees, analysis of current processes, and implementation of material flow improvements aimed at increasing productivity and reducing waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct time studies, process observations, and workflow assessments on the shop floor.
  • Engage with shop floor employees to gather input and feedback on current workstations, layouts, and material handling practices.
  • Support the planning and implementation of 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) initiatives to improve workplace organization.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining visual management tools, standardized work instructions, and layout diagrams.
  • Analyze material flow and storage systems to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or redundant movement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and maintenance to drive efficiency projects.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and project progress to supervisors and stakeholders.

Pay Range: $20-21/hour

*This role is located on-site at our HQ in Clarence, NY*

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts, especially 5S, Kaizen, and value stream mapping.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor and interacting with production staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio); AutoCAD or similar software is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
