What is an Intern Home Organizer job?

An Intern Home Organizer assists professional home organizers in decluttering, organizing, and optimizing living spaces for clients. Responsibilities may include sorting belongings, labeling storage containers, and implementing organizational systems. Interns gain hands-on experience in space planning, client communication, and home organization techniques. This role is ideal for individuals interested in interior organization, minimalism, or professional organizing.

Can I work from home as an intern?

Intern home organizer positions are typically in-person roles that involve physical organization tasks. However, some internships may offer remote work options depending on the employer and the nature of the tasks involved. It is best to check the specific internship listing for remote work possibilities and requirements.

What are some typical responsibilities and tasks I can expect as an Intern Home Organizer?

As an Intern Home Organizer, your daily responsibilities often include sorting and categorizing household items, drafting organizational plans, and assisting with the physical arrangement of storage solutions. You may also help with client consultations, research new organizing products, and support the lead organizer during on-site projects. Teamwork is common, as you'll frequently collaborate with other organizers or assistants to tackle larger spaces. This role offers hands-on experience in both the practical and client-facing sides of home organization, providing a strong foundation for further advancement in the field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Intern Home Organizer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Home Organizer, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in helping clients optimize their living spaces, usually with a background or coursework in organization, design, or related fields. Familiarity with digital scheduling tools, inventory apps, and basic project management systems can be beneficial. Excellent communication, adaptability, and empathy are crucial soft skills to effectively understand client needs and work collaboratively with a supervising organizer. These attributes are essential for ensuring efficient project completion, client satisfaction, and a smooth workflow in dynamic home environments.

How to become a home organizer with no experience?

To become a home organizer, focus on developing skills in decluttering, time management, and customer service. Gaining experience through volunteering, offering to organize for friends or family, or completing online courses can help build your portfolio and credibility in the field.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

An Intern Home Organizer typically does not earn $10,000 a month without a degree; such high earnings are uncommon in entry-level organizing roles. However, some self-employed professional organizers or consultants with established client bases can reach that income level through experience, branding, and specialized skills. Success often depends on reputation, marketing, and the ability to scale services independently.

Do home organizers make money?

Home organizers can earn income through hourly rates, project fees, or retainers, with earnings varying based on experience, location, and client demand. Entry-level organizers might earn around $15 to $25 per hour, while experienced professionals can charge $50 or more per hour. Many work independently or for organizing companies, and strong organizational skills and certifications can help increase earning potential.

Job description

Are you a college student or recent high school grad looking for a summer job that’s active, hands-on, and meaningful? If so, this might be the perfect fit.

We’re hiring an Intern – Home Modifications, and this is not your typical summer desk job. You’ll be working in the field on real projects that help people live safer, more independent lives in their homes.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys physical work, wants to learn construction-related skills, and is interested in getting experience with tools, installations, and home modification projects. No prior construction experience is required, but a willingness to learn and a desire to work with your hands are important.

You’ll be part of a team, learn as you go, and see the direct impact of your work every day. If you like staying active, learning practical skills, and doing work that matters, this could be a great opportunity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Installing and supporting home modification equipment
  • Working with ramps, lifts, and mobility equipment
  • Helping with deliveries and setting up medical equipment as needed
  • Supporting warehouse operations and handling equipment
  • Learning how field work and installations come together

What We’re Looking For

We don’t expect you to know everything — we can teach you the job. Attitude matters most.

  • Positive and easy to work with.
  • Willing to learn and get hands-on.
  • Comfortable with physical, active work throughout the day.
  • Interested in construction, mechanics, or field work.
  • General knowledge of hand and power tools, or the ability and desire to learn.
  • Good communicator and team player.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (college students encouraged)
  • Experience in warehouse, construction, delivery, or customer service is a plus, not required

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs when needed
  • Active role involving standing, walking, lifting, and moving throughout the day
  • May drive or ride in company vehicles
  • Hands-on work with equipment and installations

Compensation

  • $18.00 per hour

Shift

  • Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Location

  • Wheatfield, NY and surrounding areas
