Job description


The University of Tulsa Athletics department is seeking a dedicated and motivated
Sports Nutrition Fellow to join our Performance Team. As a Sports Nutrition Fellow, you
will report to the Director of Sports Nutrition and work closely with our Performance and
Wellness team to enhance and support player nutrition, wellness, and performance.
This opportunity will allow the fellow to gain experience working in collegiate sports
nutrition specifically with the University of Tulsa Olympic Sports programs. The Sports
Nutrition Fellow will work daily in the Tulsa Athletics facilities as a member of the Sports
Nutrition staff. Hours will vary and will include a non-standard workweek.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide nutrition expertise to student athletes through team talks, consultations,
    and other educational strategies; assisting in teams' planning and execution of
    every day practice fueling, game day/travel nutrition, and competition fueling
    strategies.
  • Assist the Director of Sports Nutrition in delivering performance-enhancing
    nutrition services to players and staff.
  • Oversee daily operations and inventory management of the fueling station.
  • Evaluate nutritional supplements for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy.
  • Assist in a variety of assessment modalities including but not limited to body
    composition, bloodwork, and hydration.
  • Stay up to date with current nutrition research, trends, and best practices, and
    incorporate new knowledge into the team's nutrition program.
  • Collaborate with the Performance team to create and maintain an industry-leading environment for our athletes, coaches, and staff.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Nutrition or a related field required.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required/must be obtained within 90 days of
    hire.
  • Previous experience in sports nutrition is preferred..
  • Ability to embody a growth mindset, elite professionalism, and demonstrate
    resilience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced
    environment.

Additional Requirements:
  • This position is based at the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma and requires
    a daily on-site presence. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
  • Must be available to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings,
    evenings, weekends and holidays, based on the team's season schedule.
  • Travel is required for select away-game trips.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

This is a 12-month assignment, with the possibility of an extension for another 12-months.
Mentorship will come from the Director of Sports Nutrition.
