Description
Exterior Trim Engineering Intern
The Exterior Trim Engineering Intern will support engineering execution for a Karma vehicle program, contributing directly to launch readiness through hands-on involvement in BOM accuracy, engineering change execution, validation activities, and design risk reduction. This role provides practical engineering experience embedded within a cross-functional product development and launch environment.
This internship offers direct exposure to exterior trim engineering, quality discipline, and launch processes, with meaningful impact on supply chain readiness, product validation, and SOP execution.
Internship Details
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Timing: May/June start through August/September end
  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
  • Support development and maintenance of accurate Engineering Bills of Material (eBOMs) to enable Supply Chain and Procurement readiness and reduce late material changes ahead of SOP.
  • Assist with execution and release of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), including Change Requests (CRs) and Change Authorizations (CAs), to enable faster and more controlled design changes.
  • Support Design Verification Plan (DVP) development and tracking and assist with completion of DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) activities to ensure design intent is validated prior to SOP.
  • Participate in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) activities to support early identification, assessment, and mitigation of potential failure modes.
  • Assist with documentation updates, design reviews, and coordination of engineering deliverables across cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, and program teams to support OEM launch execution and exterior trim deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in product engineering and launch readiness.
  • Ability to work with engineering documentation, BOMs, and structured processes.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced program environment.

Preferred Qualification:
  • Coursework or project experience related to mechanical design, materials, or automotive systems
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, CAD data, or BOM structures
  • Exposure to DFMEA, DVP/DVP&R, or change management processes
  • Interest in vehicle systems, exterior components, and manufacturing launch activities

Compensation:
