Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical travel position in Alexandria, LA, with a focus on post-surgical and neuro patient populations.
Job Details
• Acute Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting,
• Patient population includes post-surgical patients (orthopedics, general surgery) and neurological populations,
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1-6:1 depending on staffing,
• Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM,
• Weekends may be required based on scheduling needs,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• Floating to other units is a possibility,
• Epic EMR experience is a bonus but not required,
• 13-week contract,
Job Requirements
• Active RN license in Louisiana or a Compact state currently in hand,
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA),
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates,
• US Social Security Number required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation,
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness,
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families,
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided,
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers,
• BSN is preferred but not required,
• Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility at the conclusion of the contract
