Electrical Project Manager

Job Description

This role leads electrical construction projects across the DMV area, with a strong focus on multi-family, interior renovation, healthcare, office, and low-voltage work. The Electrical Project Manager oversees projects from ground-up builds to complex renovations, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and schedule expectations while coordinating closely with clients, field teams, and office staff. The position involves regular movement between construction sites and the office in Chantilly and offers the opportunity to manage multi-million-dollar projects within a professional, supportive, and growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the total construction effort for assigned electrical projects to ensure work is completed in accordance with project standards, budget, and schedule.
  • Interface regularly with client representatives, other contractors, and internal teams to maintain clear communication and alignment on project goals and progress.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise core project management functions, including scheduling, engineering, and material control, to keep projects on track.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and oversight to onsite administrative staff in areas such as accounting and purchasing, as needed.
  • Investigate situations that may impact project scope, cost, or schedule, implement mitigation strategies, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Work closely with onsite leadership and general contractors to supervise craft employees and ensure work quality and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to oversee and coordinate the work of other contractors as required by project contracts.
  • Provide technical assistance by interpreting drawings, reviewing specifications, and recommending construction methods, tools, and equipment.
  • Initiate and maintain processes for extra work estimating and the issuance of change orders, ensuring all changes are properly documented.
  • Review all proposed changes for accuracy of scope and alignment with contract requirements before submission and approval.
  • Negotiate change order pricing with stakeholders and manage the change order approval process for each project.
  • Take responsibility for the contractual performance of the project, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions.
  • Ensure company safety initiatives are followed by all on-site employees, including investigating, reporting, and correcting any safety-related incidents.
  • Drive to various project sites throughout the DMV area as required to oversee field activities and meet with project stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in electrical construction and project management.
  • Strong background in electrical construction, including low voltage, electrical circuits, electrical components, and voltage distribution.
  • Hands-on project management experience in multi-family projects.
  • Project management experience in interior renovation projects.
  • Project management experience in office building projects.
  • Project management experience in healthcare projects.
  • Proven ability to supervise construction projects to meet standards, budgets, and schedules.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams on complex construction projects.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents and translate them into field execution.
  • Demonstrated experience managing change orders, including estimating, scope review, pricing negotiation, and approvals.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices and the ability to enforce safety policies on job sites.
  • Valid driver capability and willingness to drive regularly between project sites and the office.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus; equivalent experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Experience with ground-up construction, data centers, and healthcare facilities is beneficial.
  • Ability to provide day-to-day direction to onsite administrative staff and other project managers when needed.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Motivation to grow into leading multi-million-dollar projects and continuously improve project management capabilities.
  • Interest in working in a professional yet fun culture that recognizes and rewards strong performance, including performance-based bonuses.

Work Environment

The role is based in the DMV area and involves overseeing multiple electrical construction projects across various sites. The Electrical Project Manager regularly travels between active construction sites and an office located in Chantilly and does not work in a remote capacity. Work hours generally align with an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, but may extend beyond standard hours depending on project needs, so flexibility is important.
