Position: Books Program Intern
Department: AE Media Solutions
Reporting to: Books Program Director
Location: Topeka, KS- Onsite
Overview:
We are looking for a talented and motivated Books Program Intern to join our Books Program team! The Book Program Intern is responsible for helping team members craft compelling stories, apply laser like editing, design retiree-friendly layouts, and bring a level of service to publication and general marketing that provides clients a high level of satisfaction they find in the finished product.
What you’ll do:
  • Weigh in with well-thought-out discussion points about design templates, editing and style guides
  • Learn to critically edit content in a way that allows producers to tell their stories in an accurate and compliant way
  • Bring a level of unparalleled customer service to the production and marketing piece of the publishing equation, with proactive communication and spunk
  • Pleasantly articulate Books Program offerings and goals to the internal AE audience as well as to AE’s clients
  • Take initiative in developing program improvements and new offerings
  • Write and edit effective press releases, blogs and social media posts on an as-needed basis
  • Frame commemorative books to send to advisors post-publication
Experience you’ll bring:
  • College-level course work in mass communications, writing, English, or journalism
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to write and edit error-free content for distribution through various media
  • Ability to vary tone and messaging based on medium, target audience and product
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions while meeting deadlines, producing high quality work and projecting a positive attitude
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to take initiative with projects and operate autonomously with minimal direction.
Bonus Points:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word)
  • Confidence navigating new online publishing technologies
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator amp; Photoshop) is ideal
