In Developer Publications, we teach people to design and build incredible products and software for Apple’s platforms. Our audience includes developers getting their first introduction to Apple platforms, designers using our Human Interface Guidelines, accessory makers and industry partners, and advanced engineers learning our hundreds of frameworks.
As a Content Engineer focused on Car Experience, you'll contribute to technical documentation that enables automakers worldwide to integrate CarPlay, CarPlay Ultra, and car keys into vehicles, directly impacting the experiences of millions of drivers. You'll partner with the Car Experience engineering team, editors, engineers, designers, and other teams across Apple to define, edit, and author hardware specifications and integration requirements, while also developing documentation tooling and contributing to the broader documentation ecosystem.
Description
You'll be primarily responsible for authoring, editing, and maintaining CarPlay, CarPlay Ultra, and car keys specifications and other technical documentation for automotive partners, with opportunities to modernize workflows, develop documentation tooling, and contribute to broader developer-facing content. Responsibilities include:
- Partner with the Car Experience engineering team to analyze engineering specifications, research automaker needs, and gain a deep understanding of hardware specifications and implementation requirements
- Craft content delivery plans and schedules, and compose technical specifications that clearly communicate complex integration concepts
- Edit detailed technical specifications and other content produced by engineers
- Identify opportunities to modernize content workflows and formats for improved efficiency and quality
- Contribute to app development documentation and HIG guidance
Preferred Qualifications
BS Degree in CS, ME, EE, or equivalent
Experience writing or editing requirements documentation
Experience with text markup (LaTeX, Markdown, HTML, XML)
Familiarity with automotive systems, hardware integration, and accessory design
Familiarity with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and UX/UI design principles
Minimum Qualifications
Passion for learning new technologies and producing highly accurate and precise technical documentation
Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and requirements into clear, actionable content
Experience engineering software and shipping to production
Proficiency with macOS and Unix, and SCM environments (Git/Subversion)
Knowledge of the Swift programming language, Xcode, and app development using Apple APIs
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition.
