About this Job Engineer 7 - Assistant Materials Engineer Administrator Section 22/G001 - Materials Testing 22/9136/E7AMEA/08.03.26-BH About this Position: This position serves as the primary technical and operations assistant to the Materials Engineer Administrator for the Materials and Testing Section. The Section has 9 Laboratory Units, an Environmental Unit, an Automation Unit, and supporting staff. Serves as a cornerstone for implementing the DOTD's statewide Quality Assurance Program

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience. A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience

Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience. There is no substitution for licensed engineering experience. NOTES: Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience.

Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineer's license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience. Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana. If one of those applicants is selected for the position, he/she will be required to obtain a Louisiana license prior to appointment

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Serves as primary technical advisor to Materials Engineer Administrator in handling complex, multi-faceted, statewide issues, especially those affecting Quality Assurance. Provides specialized assistance and leadership in developing policies, procedures and specifications applicable to statewide engineering materials programs.

Assists with administrative matters such as budget, personnel, and organization. Serves as administrator for 20 people, and as supervisor and technical advisor for the Engineer 6's responsible for the Geotechnical, Aggregates, Physical, Cement, and Adhesives Lab Units. Serves as Lab facilities manager, overseeing construction work and maintenance work for buildings and property.

Manages personnel, funding, documentation, planning and contingencies for capital outlay projects on premises. Supervises work to electrical, gas, and mechanical systems, property surveys, flooring, ductwork, paint, insulation, landscaping, etc ... Maintain list of repairs and contracts, and monitors costs affecting the Operating Budget
