Description

The Hatcher Group is excited to welcome an intern to join our Design team during summer 2026. The Hatcher Intern Program is designed to provide college students and recent graduates with an opportunity to experience agency life. During the program, the intern will use their creative and technical skills to design materials for firm initiatives, digital media, and branding projects.  


The Design team seeks students who are ready and willing to learn, while enhancing their creative skills to consistently deliver quality work product. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design and a strong desire to contribute to Hatcher's work supporting nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, and other mission-driven organizations in educating and motivating people through powerful marketing and communications. Interns are expected to be well-organized, self-motivated, able to multitask, and be team players. This position is open to recent college graduates and students graduating in winter 2026. 


Hatcher is proud to offer a work culture with a "flexible first" approach. The preferred location is within reasonable commuting distance to our Bethesda headquarters location for in-person collaboration. 


Additional Details: 

  • Program dates: June 16 - August 14, 2026 
  • Hourly wage: $20/hr. 
  • Hours: Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Design brochures, flyers, logos, and branding assets, digital and print advertisements, infographics, presentations, business development proposal covers, illustrations, social media graphics, and more 
  • Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions for new projects and campaigns 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Create quality deliverables in collaboration with the design team and under the guidance of Hatcher's art directors 
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with the team 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Compelling design portfolio (be sure to include with your application) 
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Canva 
  • Experience with WordPress or other web platforms and coding languages, as well as After Effects, Premiere Pro, Procreate, Affinity, and other design programs, is not required but is considered a plus 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take direction, work efficiently as part of a team, and adhere to tight deadlines
