Location: Lincoln, NE (Onsite)
Contract: 12+ Months
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide advanced support for enterprise core routing infrastructure and large-scale network environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Cisco networking technologies, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and experience leading enterprise networking initiatives. This role requires strong technical leadership, collaboration across teams, and the ability to mentor engineers while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level support, administration, and maintenance for enterprise core network routing infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support core network hardware and related technologies.
  • Lead and coordinate multiple network projects, including deployments, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
  • Assess network infrastructure and recommend patches, upgrades, capacity improvements, and future enhancements.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve operational procedures, technical standards, and documentation.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, IT teams, and end users to resolve technical challenges and provide expert guidance.
  • Mentor and train network engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and technical growth.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities and provide support during critical incidents outside standard business hours when required.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation efforts.

Required Qualifications
Network Engineering Expertise
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and supporting large-scale enterprise core networking environments.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Cisco ASR 1000 Series Routers
    • Cisco ASR 9000 Series Routers
  • Familiarity with:
    • Cisco DWDM technologies
    • Cisco Nexus platforms
  • Strong understanding of enterprise routing, switching, and network architecture principles.
  • Experience implementing and supporting disaster recovery solutions.

Technical Knowledge
  • Strong foundation in information technology principles, practices, and infrastructure operations.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Enterprise networking devices
    • Computer hardware and software systems
    • Local Area Networks (LAN)
    • Wide Area Networks (WAN)
    • Client-server architectures and protocols
    • Internet and intranet technologies

Troubleshooting & Operations
  • Advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills in complex network environments.
  • Experience utilizing network monitoring, diagnostic, and performance analysis tools.
  • Ability to evaluate network performance and implement improvements to increase reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Experience supporting highly available, large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.

Required Certifications
