While your role may not include direct fieldwork, these tasks are essential for supporting ongoing investigations and gaining valuable insight into the complexities of cold case work.

What are Intern Cold Case Investigators?

Intern Cold Case Investigators are students or recent graduates who assist law enforcement agencies in reviewing and analyzing unsolved criminal cases, often called 'cold cases.' Their tasks may include organizing case files, researching new leads, conducting background research, and helping with forensic or legal documentation. These internships provide valuable hands-on experience in criminal justice and investigative procedures, while supporting efforts to solve old cases. Interns typically work under supervision and are exposed to both the challenges and rewards of investigative work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern Cold Case Investigator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Cold Case Investigator, you generally need a background in criminal justice, forensic science, or a related field, often accompanied by enrollment in or completion of relevant academic programs. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for reviewing evidence and collaborating with law enforcement professionals. These skills and qualifications are vital for ensuring thorough investigations, accurate case analysis, and meaningful contributions to solving complex, unresolved cases.
