Intern Coach information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern Coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Coach, you need experience in mentoring or coaching, a solid understanding of professional development, and often a background in human resources or education. Familiarity with learning management systems, feedback tools, and basic project management platforms is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to motivate and guide others set standout coaches apart. These skills are crucial for effectively supporting interns' growth, ensuring they gain valuable experience and successfully transition into professional roles.

What is an Intern Coach?

An Intern Coach is a professional who mentors and supports interns during their internship experience. They help interns navigate workplace challenges, develop professional skills, and achieve their learning goals. Intern Coaches often provide regular feedback, facilitate training sessions, and serve as a point of contact between interns and the organization. Their guidance helps interns gain confidence, build networks, and transition smoothly into the professional world.

What is the difference between Intern Coach vs Intern Mentor?

AspectIntern CoachIntern Mentor
Required CredentialsOften no formal credentials, but relevant experience preferredTypically no formal credentials, focus on experience
Work EnvironmentProfessional settings, training programs, corporate or educational institutionsInformal or formal mentorship programs, educational or community settings
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in corporate, educational, and training industries to develop internsCommon in educational, non-profit, and community organizations to guide interns

Intern Coaches and Intern Mentors both support interns' development, but Intern Coaches often have a more structured, formal role with specific training responsibilities, while Intern Mentors typically provide informal guidance based on personal experience. The choice depends on the organization’s structure and the level of formal training involved.

How does an Intern Coach typically support interns in achieving their professional development goals?

As an Intern Coach, you play a pivotal role in guiding interns through their learning journey by offering regular feedback, setting clear objectives, and helping them identify areas for growth. You will collaborate closely with both interns and their supervisors to ensure that interns receive the resources and support they need to succeed. This often involves facilitating one-on-one coaching sessions, assisting with skill-building activities, and helping interns navigate workplace challenges. Your efforts contribute directly to a positive intern experience and help interns gain confidence and practical skills for their future careers.

Marketing Intern for Social Media Management Agency

Pin Coach

Green Cove Springs, FL • On-site

$12.50 - $16.50/hr

Internship

Posted 29 days ago

Job description

Company Description
Pin Coach is a social media management agency specializing in Pinterest marketing for ecommerce and travel brands that sell and promote primarily on the Web. We partner with online brands to support and coach them on their own content marketing, with training and account management on the Pinterest platform.
This summer internship (starting June 2017) is unpaid for 3 months - yet it's my promise that the skills and exposure you will have related to marketing and outreach for a social media management agency will far exceed any paid internship you will be offered.
Job Description
**Read carefully before applying**:
We are looking for an intern (~10 hours/week) to take over responsibilities for the following marketing initiatives:
  • Cold email prospect research find new client leads
  • Assist in development of basic email marketing campaign for newsletter subscribers
  • Help manage and increase engagement in FB community group (brainstorming/ research + implementation, measuring results)
  • Helping develop ideas for marketing campaigns (e.g. blogging, social media, email marketing); creating templates and design guidelines for visual branding style; choosing 1-2 strategies to test and measure results.

You will be provided with detailed training to support your ability to execute on all required tasks.
We're looking for someone who takes responsibility & ownership for their projects and takes pride in their work ethic. You will be responsible for taking over our developing marketing department. This means you will be working on developing our marketing channels and devising systems and SOPs for ongoing implementation of our marketing efforts.
You will be trained in all of this, yet we do hold a high value for self-leadership and self-learning, so if you aren't willing to do the work and learn quickly, this position is not for you.
You'll also be part of and get to see "behind the scenes" of what it takes to grow and scale a social media marketing agency serving international brands and businesses.
Qualifications
While we're not super serious about "resume experience" we do want to make sure you fit well with the four qualifications for this position listed below:
  1. You are an executor. You get shit done.
  2. You love to learn new skills.
  3. You love thinking outside the box.
  4. You are creative and willing to propose new ideas of your own as well as critical feedback.

If you think you're a good fit for this position here's what to do:
1) Make a 1-2min video telling me why you think you're a good fit. Mention whatever experience you have with Pinterest (it's OK if you don't have any, just don't forget to mention it in the video). (make sure subject line is: Pin Coach - Marketing Intern)
2) Share with me your work availability for the next 3 months.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Additional Information
All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
