Job description


onsemi is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Technician in Hopewell Junction, East Fishkill, NY. In this role, you will learn and eventually take ownership of all computerized control systems and their associated subsystems within the Central Utility Plant of the Facilities Organization supporting a semiconductor manufacturing facility. These systems include High and Low Temperature Chilled Water, High Temperature Hot Water, Deionized Water, and Compressed Air Systems. 98% of all systems are networked Modicon PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) which report into our multiple GE (General Electric) iFix SCADA (Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition) systems. These higher-level systems then allow for remote alarming, monitoring, control, and reporting, to our various facility teams, as well as our enhanced alarm and trending systems. Must understand programming, electrical interfacing, networking concepts, computer configurations, and HMI's (Human Machine Interfacing). The successful candidate must be a motivated self-starter who is able to work in a team environment with a primary focus on customer satisfaction. Strong communication skills and schedule flexibility are important as weekend coverage will be required.

Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, Networks, and Communications, and make necessary PLC logic changes as required to simplify and standardize like processes.

  • Interface with Engineering on all System/Equipment concerns and problems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance activities and visual inspection tours, documenting performance metrics on CUP equipment.

  • React to error messages on building and site systems and/or equipment, and recover from process and equipment interruptions.

  • Utilize computers to document and communicate system status for all site operation systems, including shift logs, to collaborate across all shifts.

  • Familiarity with and utilization of LEAN tools to ensure continuous improvement, utilization, and costs.

  • Plan and implement all system upgrades as needed.

  • Train and lead new I&C Technicians.

  • Provide high level status presentations to all levels of management.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's Degree from an Accredited College and or University in a technical or Engineering discipline.

  • 2 plus years of relevant experience

  • Must be able to perform shift work on an 8-hour schedule

  • Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift (preventive maintenance) and/or process issues, ability to perform work in a standing position for the majority of an 8-hour shift (excluding breaks)

  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience or recent Technical Graduate

  • Knowledge in Equipment Control Systems, i.e. PLCs, Single Loop Controllers, SCADA's

  • Knowledge in Combustion/Boilers

  • Knowledge in Refrigeration/Chillers

  • Ability to understand Logic, Sequencing, and Programming.

  • Must be "hands-on" and be able to work in the field alongside operators and technicians.

  • Familiarity with hand tools and ability to utilize a DMM (Digital Multimeter).

  • Knowledge in Ethernet Networks and Communications.

Hourly: onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $21.20 to $36.92 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
