Job description

About the Team: The Editorial team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by (1) ensuring that all materials best support customers by being clear, accurate, and in alignment with the product team's stated goals; (2) meeting the needs of internal and external customers while demonstrating excellence/quality; and (3) producing these products through a lean, effective process.
Role Summary: As an Editorial Intern at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the Editorial team by improving his or her editorial knowledge and skill by studying The Chicago Manual of Style, BJU Press house style, publishing standards, and a variety of editorial books. The intern will then apply this knowledge as he or she practices proofreading and editing a variety of texts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practice proofreading BJU Press products
- Read and discuss assigned book(s) that focus on the editorial process
- Practice editing various stages of project work
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
- Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
- Interest in editing and publishing
- Ability to follow directions well
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Acceptable performance on the BJU Press Editorial test
- Working knowledge of English grammar and mechanics
- Must be a college senior graduating December 2026
- Microsoft Office; Adobe Acrobat Reader
