What is an intern behavioral analyst?

An Intern Behavioral Analyst assists in observing, analyzing, and implementing behavioral interventions under the supervision of a certified professional. They help collect data, assess client progress, and support behavior modification programs. This role is common in healthcare, education, and research settings, where interns gain hands-on experience applying behavioral analysis principles. It provides invaluable training for those pursuing certification or a career in applied behavior analysis (ABA).

What does an intern behavioral analyst do?

As an Intern Behavioral Analyst, you can expect to assist with data collection and analysis, observe and document client behaviors, and support the design and implementation of behavioral intervention plans under supervision. You may participate in team meetings, help prepare progress reports, and assist in monitoring client progress. Collaboration with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), therapists, and sometimes clients’ families is common, offering valuable exposure to real-case scenarios and multi-disciplinary teamwork. This hands-on experience helps you develop practical skills and gain insights into the daily life of a behavioral analyst, making it an excellent foundation for future career growth in the field.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an intern behavioral analyst?

To thrive as an Intern Behavioral Analyst, you should possess a foundational understanding of psychology or behavioral science, strong analytical skills, and be actively pursuing or have completed related coursework. Familiarity with data analysis software (such as SPSS or R), observational tools, and documentation systems is often expected, and coursework or certification in Applied Behavior Analysis can be advantageous. Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills help you effectively interact with supervisors, clients, and colleagues. These competencies enable interns to accurately assess behavioral data, collaborate on interventions, and contribute meaningfully to the organization’s goals.

Is there a high demand for behavior analysts?

The demand for behavior analysts, including intern behavioral analysts, is strong due to increased awareness of behavioral health and autism spectrum disorder interventions. Employment opportunities are expected to grow faster than average, especially for those with certification and experience in applied behavior analysis (ABA).

Job description

Ahoy, Matey!
Success On The Spectrum is a national ABA franchise with a dedication to quality. Our model combines the most effective methods of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) science, a fun environment, community outings, safety, and high parent involvement to children who have ASD. Our goal is to teach valuable life skills that help our clients become productive and fulfilled adults, ultimately increasing the overall quality of life.
We are looking for an organized, clinically experienced BCBA who is seeking full-time employment. Our BCBAs must have good communication skills and a salesman-like enthusiasm, as you will be the main point of contact for parents.
