Job description

What You'll Do
The Load Planner is responsible for organizing an outbound train plan that meets client deadlines while maximizing the amount of shipped containers for each train in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
  • Manage outbound trains, ensuring that yard personnel load and release trains on schedule.
  • Modify existing train plans, adding rail cars as needed to meet shipping requirements
  • Assign available units to departing trains
  • Manage holds and exceptions on individual units
  • Confirm Hub Manager receives correct train information
  • Use the Terminal Operating System (TOS) and other support systems to locate train information for REMPREX Technicians
  • Log train release information in client reports
  • Complete client reports for train releases Compile and store Train Close-Out packets that contains all train information for each released train
  • Transfer scheduled outbound plan and train status information to the incoming Load Coordinator at the end of your shift
  • Mentor new personnel in load planning procedures
  • Work with the Analyst to maintain a current inventory of units inside the facility
What You'll Need
Requirements
  • 4+ years of work experience
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve problems on an immediate basis, and to develop and implement procedural changes without supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support work as a team.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to train subordinates, peers, and senior level managers effectively
  • Skills to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, and industry needs and requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft® Word® and Excel®

Preferred:
  • Transportation industry experience
  • Intermodal experience

Location
  • This role is based out of Memphis, TN (5038 E. Shelby Drive, Memphis TN 38118)
  • This role requires employees to be 100% on-site during designated shifts.

Schedule:
This position consists of working 12-hour shifts (Nights: 5:00PM -5:00 AM) on a rotating schedule. Therefore, your working schedule would be the following:
(ON below connotes working the standard 12-hour shift)
  • Week 1
    • Monday- OFF
    • Tuesday + Wednesday- ON
    • Thursday + Friday- OFF
    • Saturday + Sunday- ON

    (Four 12-hour shifts total)
  • Week 2
    • Monday- ON
    • Tuesday + Wednesday- OFF
    • Thursday + Friday- ON
    • Saturday + Sunday- OFF

    (Three 12-hour shifts total)
