Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Tele Intermediate/Stepdown unit position requiring an active IL RN license and 2 years of experience.

Details
  • Work in the Tele Intermediate stepdown unit of a Level 2 trauma acute care hospital with 26 beds
  • Patient population includes CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, and syncope cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
  • Nurse aide/tech support at a 1:9 ratio
  • Charge nurse takes patients
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Central tele monitoring with medications including Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitro
  • No vents; BiPAP, CPAP, and HF/Vapotherm equipment used
  • Hospitalist coverage 7a-5p, followed by APN in-house with e-hospitalist coverage
  • 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available; nursing does not mix medications
  • 12-hour night shifts scheduled 7p-7:30a
  • No block scheduling, but facility will try to accommodate consecutive night shifts
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating expected, maintaining the same 1:5 ratio on assigned unit
  • Floor-specific orientation includes 1 hospital orientation shift and 2 unit orientation shifts (one day, one night)
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required
  • BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BSN not required
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in a tele/stepdown intermediate care setting
  • No specific scrub color required; may wear own scrubs (not provided by hospital)
  • Holiday coverage required for every other holiday
  • Local rate available for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
  • No radius rule restricting eligibility
  • COVID vaccination not required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
