Overview
We are seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer Energy - Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.
Your role
  • Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
  • Designs and analyses safety and non-safety related electrical systems for nuclear and commercial projects.
  • Interfaces regularly with the other technical disciplines (mechanical, nuclear, operations and electrical engineering teams) for electrical design and consultation.
  • Applies knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International regulatory criteria and industry best practices.
  • Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to document compliance with project and code requirements, which may include lighting, volt drop, conductor sizing and panel heat generation calculations.
  • Generates, and is conversant with wiring diagrams, single line drawings, loop diagrams, control architectural drawings/specifications, electrical and instrumentation specifications, data sheets and control philosophy documents.
  • Assists in the preparation of design documents and plant modifications, including coordination with designers in document development in accordance with approved procedures, processes and design requirements.
  • Assists in routine development, management and implementation of engineering analysis, activities and programs to identify and resolve routine equipment and system problems.
  • Familiar with national codes and standards appropriate to the Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • Ensures relevant design criteria, specifications, practices, procedures and codes and site design and safety and licensing basis are used in preparation of design media.
  • Works in multi-discipline teams on project-based work and ensures integration of design across multiple disciplines.
  • Conducts mentoring and quality reviews of the work of junior colleagues when needed.
  • Performs checking to ensure accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies and procedures and client expectations.
  • Works to assigned schedules ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays.
  • Recommends new equipment, concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify design, reduce costs, correct design flaws or to comply with changes in client requirements, codes or regulations.
  • Supports installation and testing of site systems and components.
  • Receives instruction, guidance and direction from more senior engineers and completes duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About you
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical or engineering field.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in nuclear industry preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Conceptual knowledge of CE&I Systems design software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to complete complex technical work with limited supervision.
  • Higher-level knowledge and application of skills of fundamental principles and concepts related to electrical design.
  • Experience contributing to Electrical system design (e.g., on site distribution (AC and DC), off site interfaces (switchyard), grounding and lighting protection, plant lighting systems, battery system design, communications systems, or diesel generators).
  • Growing familiarity with nuclear regulatory guidance (e.g., NUREG-0800 Ch. 8).
  • Experience applying relevant codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform electrical system design and analysis.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
