Job Description
The AIC Engineer III is responsible for overseeing the discipline and managing the discipline budget on small to medium projects of limited complexity. The Engineer III coordinates with internal and external engineers as well as client, construction manager, subcontractor and vendor interfaces. The Engineer possesses the demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others. The Engineer may work independently or at the direction of the Lead Engineer or Project Manager. This role will have the ability to successfully execute and lead (on moderate complexity projects) all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation and construction administration, or hold primary responsibility for one or more automation systems on a large project. The Engineer will have the ability to develop designs of automation control systems of intermediate complexity, consisting of multiple controllers, HMIs, Workstations and Servers.
Responsibilities
  • Interfaces with clients and external partners.
  • Plans and directs work and manages a project budget from a discipline design perspective on small projects of limited complexity.
  • Supports proposal development under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer.
  • Identifies basic non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
  • Develops basic internal discipline design and engineering training presentations.
  • Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on intermediate projects of limited complexity and with little oversight.
  • Leads squad check and discipline check for small projects of intermediate complexity and drives overall project quality.
  • Provides mentorship to discipline Engineer I and/or Designer I and II.
  • Leads intermediate project system design programming and master planning with support from Lead or Senior Engineer.

Qualifications
  • ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in discipline-specific field of study (ChemE, ME or EE)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam registration or completion
  • Intermediate knowledge of cGMP manufacturing environments
  • Intermediate experience with performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations, and developing and implementing instrumentation and control system design
  • Intermediate experience with implementing fundamental design aspects of control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings and field wiring plans design
  • Intermediate experience developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Intermediate experience with the electrical code
  • Intermediate experience with other applicable industry standards
  • Intermediate experience with applicable mechanical and building codes
  • Basic experience and knowledge of designing Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Proficient with intermediate internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
  • Proficient with intermediate coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers
  • Proficient at intermediate list of discipline systems design calculations with limited supervision
  • Basic experience with troubleshooting issues with discipline and systems
