IT Manager III - Banking and Payments Platforms Service Delivery Lead

What you'll do:

The role is responsible for leading a team of application developers, engineers, and support specialists who play a critical role in the development, delivery, and ongoing support of banking applications supporting Deposits, Payments, Receivables, and Treasury Management at Western Alliance Bank.
This position oversees both application development and delivery, including the build and implementation of new capabilities across internally hosted systems and third-party platforms. Success in this role requires strong collaboration with business partners and external vendors, with a clear focus on driving alignment, accountability, and delivery outcomes across all stakeholders.
A significant component of the role involves production support and relationship management. The team is responsible for ensuring applications operate in highly available, resilient environments, actively monitoring and supporting systems in coordination with internal IT teams and vendor partners. This includes establishing and maintaining strong vendor relationships, driving effective communication, and ensuring timely resolution of incidents, issues, and enhancements.
The team also provides key input into business application requirements and leads testing, quality assurance, and change management activities. In addition, they support technical execution for client product implementations, perform in-scope application configuration changes, and play a lead role in communicating business impacts.
The role is also accountable for overseeing application-related BCP/DR testing, including planning, execution, and coordination to ensure continuity and operational readiness.
  • Works to develop a strong understanding and relationship between business partners.
  • Develop deep understanding of how our technology is tied together (networks, systems, vendors) and the role/responsibilities that each team plays in assuring our business is able to function at a high level of consistency and reliability.
  • Implement safety procedures and data recovery plans. Develop user manuals, as well as policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Partner with IT Leadership in the creation of a plan for employee development, retention, resource planning, talent management, performance management, and achieve a diverse and engaged workforce as well as recruit, train, and evaluate staff members' work.
  • Work with IT Leadership in the preparation and management of the annual budget, business cases, execution plans, operating plans for the team and resources required to achieve established program priorities.
  • Ensure adequate risk management and security processes/controls are established and maintained in alignment with the risk appetite for the Bank, as well as applicable regulatory and enterprise risk management expectations.

What you'll need:

  • 7+ years of related experience in IT--App Support, IT--Development, IT--Networking or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Previous leadership experience required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in managing technology teams within a specific functional area while ensuring highest quality delivery of complex products or services.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with the execution KPIs and timelines with proven ability to analyze a variety of data and summarize findings in applicable reports or other communication mediums. Utilize data to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for growth by collaborating with business and tech leads.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
