Job description

The Field Superintendent - Interior Systems will work within the Field Operations team and be assigned to support Hoffman Specialty Contracting, Inc. HSC, Hoffman's selfperformed interior specialties affiliate company. The position will report to the VP of Operations and President of HSC and will work closely with the HSC Project Manager and HSC Project Engineer. This role leads daily field execution of interior systems including framing, drywall, ceilings, and interior finishes while coordinating with architectural, structural, and MEP partners. The superintendent directs trade partners, foremen, and craft to ensure work is installed safely, meets quality standards, aligns with design intent, and supports the overall schedule.  The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supervising commercial interior systems work and managing field sequencing, logistics, safety, and coordination in complex environments. This position is fully based on the project site in Childress, TX. 

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 DOE + Per Diem & Incentives 

Essential Responsibilities: 

Lead daily planning and coordination meetings with foremen, trade partners, project engineers, and client or design representatives
Oversee all field activities for interior systems: metal stud framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, interior finishes, and related components
Interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure accurate field installation aligned with the latest construction documents
Drive execution of shortinterval and lookahead schedules and align manpower, materials, and logistics to support project milestones
Manage site logistics including deliveries, material staging, hoisting, laydown, and waste management
Lead and enforce safety standards including toolbox talks, pretask plans, audits, and compliance with Hoffman and projectspecific safety protocols
Monitor field installations for quality, tolerances, and compliance with building codes, specifications, and approved submittals
Coordinate inspections, punch lists, inwall and aboveceiling reviews, mockups, and QA/QC activities
Identify field issues proactively and collaborate with the HSC Project Engineer and design teams to resolve coordination challenges
Direct and mentor foremen and craft workers, assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and track labor hours and productivity
Support commissioning and turnover activities for interior systems, including documentation, attic stock, and client training
Maintain daily field reports, progress photos, manpower logs, material quantities, and asbuilt updates
Review RFIs, submittals, and construction documentation to provide fielddriven input and identify constructability or sequencing opportunities
Administer change efforts in the field including timeandmaterial work, extra work authorizations, and field clarifications
Ensure trade partners meet contractual expectations and adhere to installation standards
Serve as the primary field point of contact for interior systems installation questions, technical field issues, and daytoday problem solving

Qualifications: 

Professional Experience and Education

Minimum five years of interior systems field supervision experience in commercial construction
Strong understanding of interior construction means and methods including framing, drywall, ceilings, and finishes
Experience coordinating work with architectural, structural, and MEP trades in fastpaced environments
High School diploma or GED required
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred, or equivalent field experience
OSHA 30 certification preferred or required depending on project
Prior experience working for or with an interior specialties contractor is strongly preferred

Ability to remain professional, calm, and constructive in highpressure scenarios
Strong organizational skills and ability to lead diverse teams

Physical and Mental Requirements: 

  • Workday is a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location. Must be able to spend equal amounts of time in a stationary position in an office environment and moving about the construction site.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading printed and digital documents
  • Must be able to work in proximity to loud equipment more than 50% of the time.  Must be able to wear hearing protection, as necessary.  Often required to communicate with customers and coworkers in an office setting and on the job site. 
  • Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope in English.
  • Must be able to lift or manipulate 50 pounds to 3 feet and carry or push it 50-100 feet. 
  • Must be able to regularly bend or twist to examine project work.  
  • Must be able to regularly position self in a kneeling, crouching or crawling position to examine project work. 
  • Must use independent judgment, organizational and problem-solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired results.
