Job description

SpecPro Professional Services (SPS) is seeking a U.S. National Capitol Region-based Space Planner to support U.S. Federal Protective Service offices. This position is intended for local hires residing in the National Capitol Region as working on-site is required. This position is contingent upon award of contract.

Responsibilities
  • Performs Space Planning, Relocation Coordination, and Occupancy Agreement Tracking/Planning
  • Drafts and maintain comprehensive space plans for up to 180 offices, ensuring alignment with federal space utilization policies.
  • Tracks and assesses space utilization, recommends office layouts and configurations and space allocations based on current and future mission requirements to aid governmental decision making.
  • Identifies space requirements, including functional needs, departmental workflows, and number of occupants per space.
  • Utilizes space planning analytics to evaluate office utilization, efficiency, and recommends opportunities for consolidation, optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Drafts structured plans for relocating approximately 60 offices impacted by federal building dispositions or operational needs, including relocation scenarios and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Supports management of approximately 280 occupancy agreements, supporting compliance with federal regulations and lease terms.
  • Coordinates with and advises GSA and stakeholders to align occupancy agreements with space reduction initiatives and optimization initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to measure spaces and sketch existing and proposed space layouts
  • Strong oral, written, and graphical communication abilities required.
  • Working knowledge of Tririga and ServiceNow is highly desirable.
  • Strong CAD or Building Information Modeling (BIM) skills preferred
Education and Experience

Minimum 8 years of experience in space planning and NCIDQ certification required.

Certified Facility Manager certification (CFM) preferred.

Bachelors in interior design, Architecture, or relevant degree program is highly desirable.

Work Location
  • On-site presence in either the Alexandria, VA or Springfield, VA location required five (5) days per week, Monday through Friday
  • Position is intended to be performed within the National Capitol Region with periodic site visits to Federal Protective Services offices, warehouses, or other locations
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform desk work for extended periods, including sitting and using a computer.

  • Requires sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform related tasks.
  • Primarily operates in a temperature-controlled office setting with frequent use of electronic office equipment.
  • May occasionally visit operational sites, potentially encountering extreme temperatures, airborne particles, fumes, chemicals, or loud noise.
