Ancillary Specialist (Designer III or IV)
Reports to:
VP of Design
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Sales oriented designer to co-sell to win projects and help the organization achieve sales goals. The Ancillary specialist will have strong experience in our industry around ancillary products and social space environments and have ability to deliver knowledge-based expertise and consulting that adds value and differentiates Storr as a market leader.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Focus and expertise around ancillary product collection (Steelcase partners and other outside manufactures). Leveraging their knowledge and influence to bring that expertise to projects.
  2. Owns research + trends expertise in assigned market and leverages that information to gain recognition in the marketplace of the Storr Design brand. (Ancillary/ Social Space Environments)
  3. Client facing for assigned/ signature projects or pursuits/interviews.
  4. Involved in the sales cycle: help strategize, pitch, win, execute.
  5. Prime Designer or support designer on multiple assigned projects and engagements. Fluid throughout - need to be both / depending on the design.
  6. Collaborate with sales teams and clients to develop functional and creative design solutions that meet the client's requirements, aesthetic, and budget.
  7. Create design documents including design intent drawings/ collateral, space plans, furniture typical, furniture plans, installation documents and rendered images to communicate and document design solutions/ furniture specifications.
  8. Mentor Junior designers through project pairings or as assigned.
  9. Meet project deadlines and keep accurate records of working time for design billings protocols.
  10. Active role supporting the sale process which could involve live design, client tours, client meetings.
  11. Acts as a resource person within their area of assigned responsibility, to support the completion or initiatives or special assignments.
  12. Fulfill requirements of Designer training established by the Design Manager.

  • CET Designer Software expertise
  • In-depth knowledge of design trends and code requirements
  • Demonstrated success in both hard skill + behavioral core strength/ attributes
