Mesa seeks an Engineering Project Manager that has experience with the utility, industrial, or power generation industries and is capable of leading teams for both small and large power generation design projects as well as acting in the owner's engineer role.
The project manager implements corporate mission and vision statements on a project level. They independently lead projects (up to $2M) of moderate complexity and risk. The candidate will manage all aspects of small to large engineering design projects, including cost, schedule, and quality. Responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of engineering scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. They provide project leadership to small groups of highly qualified professional personnel engaged in complex work and they are accountable for maintaining a solid customer relationship and ensuring the successful execution of the project.
Responsibilities
  • Delegating, planning, prioritizing and reviewing the work of other engineers.
  • Coordinate and interface with clients, vendors, engineers, colleagues, and electric utilities personnel
  • Identify, analyze, and solve complex technical and management problems related to engineering projects; facilitate change management
  • Utilize excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment

Competencies
  • Design experience with coal, hydro, simple cycle and combined cycle power plants.
  • Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired.
  • Candidate must have excellent communication, written and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as lead on a small team are required.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of power generation types - Coal, Gas, Hydro, and Renewables

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, architecture, or other technical field.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in engineering and/or project management.

Location and Travel
  • Position will include an expectation of less than 20% travel for on-site meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits to investigate site conditions or in support of proposal efforts.
  • The selected candidate is ideally located or willing to relocate to Chattanooga, TN; Hybrid eligible dependent on candidate
