Job description

Platinum Protection Systems LLC is seeking an experienced Security Systems Service Technician to install, service, troubleshoot, and commission commercial electronic security and low-voltage systems.

This is a technical service position, not an entry-level cable-pulling role. We are looking for someone who can diagnose problems, understand how systems are supposed to operate, and determine the correct repair.

  • Install and replace controllers, readers, locks, cameras, power supplies, network equipment, and field devices
  • Configure and commission security equipment
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage wiring, power, relays, RS-485/OSDP communications, and IP networks
  • Work with customer IT departments and other trades when systems are integrated
  • Complete accurate service documentation and identify additional system deficiencies
  • Perform professional, neat, and serviceable installations

Systems & Technologies

Experience with some of the following is preferred:

  • Avigilon ACM and Avigilon Video
  • Mercury Security
  • Hanwha WAVE
  • Uniview
  • Akuvox
  • DMP and Honeywell/Resideo intrusion systems
  • IP cameras and NVRs
  • Electronic locking hardware
  • Automatic door operators
  • Gate and elevator access control
  • Managed network switches, VLANs, PoE, and TCP/IP
  • Fiber optics, fusion splicing, and OTDR testing

Experience with every system listed is not required.

  • Commercial security, access control, CCTV, alarm, networking, or low-voltage experience
  • Strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to use a digital multimeter and common diagnostic tools
  • Basic understanding of IP networking
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Comfortable working independently and solving unfamiliar technical problems
  • Professional communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

What We Value Most

Troubleshooting ability and a positive attitude.

We want technicians who can walk into a system they did not install, determine how it should work, identify what is actually happening, isolate the problem, and fix it correctly. Just as important, we value technicians who bring a positive attitude, work well with customers and coworkers, and approach challenges with a willingness to learn and solve problems.
