Job description

Imagine yourself...
  • Doing meaningful work that makes an everyday impact on the world around you.
  • Growing your expertise and expanding your skillset with every project.
  • Collaborating with a supportive, inclusive, and global team.

Contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future through products that help protect one of the world's most vital resources: water.
It's possible with a role at Ott, where you'll have the chance to shape the future of your career - and the future of our planet. Ott is positioned as the go-forward water / hydro analytics business, with In-Situ now part of Ott and contributing deep expertise in groundwater and surface water quality monitoring solutions.
At Ott, a Veralto company, you'll help deliver trusted, connected water intelligence that enables customers to understand, manage, and protect dynamic water resources. The business supports environmental water monitoring across rivers, groundwater, surface water, water quality, flow, and connected data applications.
We offer:
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) matching
  • Short- and long-term disability
  • Group Life/AD&D insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Permissive Time Off
  • Career growth opportunities within Ott and the broader Veralto network

Reporting to the Director of Software Development & User Experience, the Sr User Experience Designer will help create intuitive, engaging, and highly usable experiences across a wide range of water instrumentation-related products - both physical and digital. This role is part of the Research & Development team located in Fort Collins, Colorado.
This is a great opportunity for a UX professional who wants to design beyond the screen: you'll work on products that support real-world environmental monitoring, collaborate closely with software engineering, mechanical engineering, product management, and marketing, and help shape how customers interact with tools that generate critical water insights.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
  • Own and execute UX design from concept through implementation, translating user requirements into usable, thoughtful applications.
  • Create wireframes, mock-ups, storyboards, design specifications, and interactive prototypes that help stakeholders clearly understand the intended user experience.
  • Partner closely with engineering and product management to ensure designs are practical, scalable, and accurately implemented.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to identify pain points, validate solutions, and improve the customer experience.
  • Support onsite discovery and design workshops to better understand user problems and translate insights into clear design direction.
  • Analyze digital experiences across web and mobile platforms to identify opportunities for consistency, growth, and usability improvements.
  • Help maintain and evolve the internal design system, ensuring a consistent experience across applications, devices, and product touchpoints.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Design, or a related field, with 3+ years of related UX experience.
  • Experience creating usable and visually strong designs, including wireframes, prototypes, workflows, and interaction design deliverables.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing for desktop, web, and mobile interfaces.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders from concept through implementation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual communication, presentation, moderation, and user interview skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for end-user testing and research.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.

It would be a plus if you also have:
  • Experience with industrial design, mechanical design, or physical product usability.
  • Experience assessing usability for physical products, devices, or instrumentation.
  • Solid understanding of responsive web design.
  • Mobile app design experience for iOS and/or Android.
  • Proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Ott is proud to be part of Veralto's Water Quality segment. When you join Ott, you become part of a business focused on helping customers make confident decisions about water resources through reliable data, connected technology, and practical solutions used in real-world environments.
