Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic legal guidance by analyzing business objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Support intellectual property risk mitigation efforts
  • Counsel the company on patent law, open source software issues, and related policies
  • Understand product roadmaps and priorities across Walmart business segments
  • Develop patent and intellectual property strategies for key initiatives
  • Review open source software requests and help shepherd compliance efforts
  • Manage relationships with internal clients and external counsel
  • Promote ethical standards and compliance across teams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives integrating legal insights into business decision-making
Requirements
  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • 5 years’ experience in law
  • License to practice law in at least one state
  • Registered USPTO patent attorney
  • Extensive experience counseling clients on patentable subject matter, invention, and open source software governance
  • Experience providing legal advice and counsel on complex business matters
  • Ability to develop and implement legal strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and policy analysis
  • Skill in managing legal support for business transactions and projects
  • Proficiency in legal research, analysis, and evaluation of legislative and regulatory developments
