The Opportunity:

As an experienced electrical engineer with a background in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) design, you will help solve complex challenges that drive the development of next-generation satellite systems. You will take on a hands-on role in designing, implementing, and testing FPGA-based processing architectures, while enhancing these systems through advanced technology solutions that meet demanding space and mission requirements.
You'll apply your expertise while providing guidance to a cross-domain team focused on digital design, verification, and system integration. In this role, you will collaborate closely across engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of FPGA designs into spacecraft subsystems. Through this work, you will help translate system-level requirements into robust hardware implementations that enable reliable on-orbit performance.

You Have:
  • Experience using Vivado for embedded system design
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing mathematics and implementing algorithms in synthesizable HDL
  • Experience with scientific analysis software, such as MATLAB
  • Experience with benchtop equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, arbitrary waveform generators, and vector signal generators
  • Knowledge of commercial RF and digital component and assembly distributors for rapid prototyping
  • Knowledge of wideband RF signal acquisition and generation, as well as FPGA development processes
  • Knowledge of RF signal propagation chain configurations
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 7+ years of experience in digital design through HDL and schematic layout, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 5+ years of experience in digital design through HDL and schematic layout

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with FPGA development tools, such as AMD Vitis or Intel Quartus
  • Experience with EDA tools for HDL and RTL simulation, such as ModelSim, Questa, Xcelium, VCS, or Aldec
  • Knowledge of satellite requirements and design
  • Knowledge of space-specific requirements, including system hardening
  • Knowledge of RADAR and Electronic Attack (EA) and Electronic Support (ES) concepts
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux and RTOS development, including U-Boot, Yocto, BitBake, OpenEmbedded, or device tree components
  • Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
